"Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self." -- The Bhagavad Gita
Origin Story
Catherine was born and raised on the beautiful Garden Isle, Kauai, HI. She began her yoga journey at the age of 18, when she first practiced yoga at Bikram Yoga Kauai in 2008. The feeling of transcending all worries, aches, pains and being fully present in her own body ignited her never ending path inwards with yoga. She continued to practice yoga regularly throughout college, and in her travels to California, New York, SE Asia and Bali.
In 2018 Catherine moved to the Big Island of Hawaii to work as a chef at a yoga retreat center, Hale Kai. In her 3 years of living and working at the yoga retreat center she deepened her yoga, meditation, and pranayama practice. Catherine was grateful to learn about Yoga Therapy from her Yogini Guru Deborah Koehn. Deborah showed her the world of Yoga Therapy, a way to not only look and feel amazing by doing yoga, but to heal herself and others thru the practice of yoga. Catherine was inspired to deepen her knowledge and practice of yoga and decided to travel to India in 2019 to complete her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training, with a focus on Yoga Therapy.
In 2021, Catherine was able to begin teaching yoga at the lovely Mauna Kea Beach Hotel. She enjoys teaching yoga in nature. Most of her classes are held outdoors, on a nice grassy field, with views and sounds of the ocean in the distance. She currently teaches at various resorts in the Waikoloa area, and doing private sessions in the Kailua-Kona and Waikoloa areas.
Catherine also enjoys teaching Pilates, mat Pilates and yoga/Pilates fusion classes. She loves to cater each session to your individual health and wellness needs. Its her passion to share movement with breath to get your body, mind, and spirit in good alignment and overall wellness.
“It all started with one breath…
A deep inhale thru my nose, I felt my lungs and chest expand. I felt my heart, in my chest, absorbing the Prana(vital life force energy). I felt my heart beating and a sense of love, joy, a tingling energy in the center of my chest. As my body flowed freely and held poses with such strength. The movements combined with the breathing kept me energized, yet relaxed, in the present moment. My first yoga class ignited my passion for yoga. Ever since I have continued my journey with yoga and wellness. I love seeing peoples faces after a beautiful session, their eyes glowing with love, seeming a bit lighter from our practice together. My goal is to get people moving and breathing, aware of their bodies and their innate ability to heal themselves from within.”
